iSi Named as Finalist for Best in Business Awards

iSi Environmental Services (iSi) has been recognized as one of 15 finalists for the 2009 Wichita Business Journal's Best in Business awards. Best in Business awards finalists are chosen based on their achievements in financial success, marketing innovation and community involvement. The Best in Business awards began in 2006 and iSi has been a finalist each year the award has been presented.

iSi CEO Gary Mason and president Karma Mason attribute iSi's continued success to its ability to remain flexible to its clients. They feel that is especially critical for iSi now as client needs adjust to the changing economy. "Our clients are being impacted by the economy," said Karma. "That reinforces our need to be good stewards for our clients right now. That's critical at all times, but we try to stay focused and be as efficient as we can."

While providing consultation services for businesses that require compliance with federal and state regulations, iSi is also expanding its recycling services. This was one of the marketing innovations that helped secure the nomination. Gary Mason is currently focused on researching a new technology that will recycle composite waste generated by the aerospace industry. This innovation will help reduce the amount of waste left behind. "We do appreciate having those kinds of opportunities. When you can do something meaningful, it is pretty gratifying."

iSi is a full-service environmental and safety consulting firm which assists businesses with OSHA and EPA compliance. This includes helping businesses comply with the regulations as well as environmental sampling (i.e., groundwater, soil and air), occupational exposure assessments, workplace safety evaluations, asbestos abatement, hazardous waste management and safety and environmental training. iSi's construction-type crew performs hazardous materials industrial cleaning of chemicals, gasoline and oil tanks, sumps, large equipment and paint booths. iSi is listed in the Inner City 100 List as one of the fastest-growing inner-city companies.
